Ingredients

Bread
  • 370 g canned refrigerator pizza dough
  • 6 pieces mozzarella cheese sticks cut into 30 one-inch pieces
  • 1 large egg for egg wash
  • 15 ml water for egg wash
Herb Butter
  • 45 ml butter melted
  • 50 g grated parmesan cheese divided
  • 1 tablespoon fresh parsley finely chopped
  • 0.5 tablespoon fresh rosemary finely chopped
  • 0.5 tablespoon fresh basil finely chopped
  • 1 clove garlic grated
  • 1 jar marinara and/or pesto for dipping

Equipment

  • Baking Sheet
  • Parchment Paper

Method

  1. Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Cut the dough into 30 approximately equal squares, then cut the mozzarella cheese sticks into 30 bite-sized (1 inch) pieces.
  3. Add a piece of mozzarella to each square of dough, then form a ball, rolling with your hands to smooth and seal the edges.
  4. Place the balls on the prepared baking sheet seam side down in the shape of a tree, ensuring the balls are touching.
  5. Blend the egg and water in a small bowl and lightly brush each ball with the egg wash.
  6. Bake the bread for 16-18 minutes or until golden brown.
  7. While the bread is baking, microwave the butter until melted, then stir in half of the parmesan cheese and all of the grated garlic and herbs.
  8. Brush the herb butter onto the rolls, then sprinkle the remaining parmesan cheese over the top.
  9. Serve right away with marinara and/or pesto for dipping.

Notes

For extra flavor, you can add a pinch of red pepper flakes to the herb butter. This bread is best served warm right out of the oven.
