Ingredients

Popcorn
  • 1/2 cup unpopped kernels or two standard-size microwave bags
Toppings
  • 3 cups red velvet cake crumbs about 1/3 of a 9 x 13 cake
Coating
  • 22 oz. white chocolate chips
  • 1 tbsp vegetable shortening (Crisco)

Equipment

  • Double Boiler

Method

  1. First pop your popcorn using an air popper or the stove. Alternatively, you can use the microwave variety.
  2. Next, melt your white chocolate chips along with the Crisco in a double boiler on the stove.
  3. Transfer your popcorn to a large bowl, making sure to remove any unpopped kernels. Pour the melted chocolate over the popcorn and stir to coat completely.
  4. Pour the popcorn onto a waxed paper lined surface and sprinkle with your red velvet crumbs. Turn the popcorn over with a spoon and sprinkle again with the crumbs for even coverage.
  5. Let the chocolate set before eating or packaging.

Notes

For a crunchier texture, let the popcorn sit until the chocolate fully hardens. This recipe is perfect for gifting or as a party favor.
